Letter to the Editor

Our father would have been proud

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Dear Editor,

The funeral of our father, Stanley Lee Brittingham, was held on April 12, 2008. Stanley served on the Nevada Police Department from 1954 to 1964. He served as Chief of Police from 1960 to 1964.

Our family would like to thank the Nevada Police Department and the city of Nevada for the honor shown a former police chief. Dad's funeral procession was escorted by a Nevada police officer. There were two officers stopping traffic on Austin Street for the procession. While stopping traffic, the officers exited their squad cars, stood at full attention and saluted. These gestures shown by the officers would have made our father very proud.

Stanley loved Nevada, the police department and his fellow officers. The police department was an important part of his life and he took his responsibilities seriously. To see these officers showing such respect was something our family will never forget. Thank you for making a special memory for all of us.

Sincerely,

Stanley's children: Galen Brittingham, Thurman Brittingham, Barbara Cubbage, Kaye Brittingham-Murry Marilyn Mitchel
