JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Nevada senior Tyler Werner was awarded fourth place in Class 3 pole vault at the Missouri State Track and Field Championships at Lincoln University here Friday.

Werner matched the heights of two other athletes, St. Clair junior Richard York and Monett senior D.J. Dunmire as all three cleared 13 feet, 6 inches. However, tie-breakers put York in second, Dunmire third and Werner fourth. The winner was North County junior Jeff Wilfong, who cleared 14 feet.

It wasn't a good day for Nevada's female sprinters as they both were not able to advance from their preliminary heats. Senior Katelyn Brier was seventh in the second heat in 13.36 while sophomore Mariah Mock was eighth in the first heat in 15.35.

Junior Heidi Wilson is Nevada's remaining athlete. She will compete in shot put at 11 a.m. this morning.
