Kenton W. "Bud" Pettibon
Kenton W. "Bud" Pettibon, 78, of Nevada, formerly of the Deerfield area, passed away on June 5, 2008, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following an illness of several months. He was born on March 13,1930, the son of Herbert and Lela Peters Pettibon. On May 4, 1952, he married Helen Ripley in Fort Scott, who survives of the home.
Following his discharge from thet Marine Corps, in San Diego, Calif., he was employed for a short time with his brother-in-law in the construction business. Later, Bud was employed by Cessna Aircraft, in Wichita, Kan. He retured to Coal Township in 1954 where rhe spent the next 45 years as a farmer/stockman on the same farm where he was reared. He and Helen moved to their present home in Nevada in 2000.
In addition to his wife Helen, he leaves on daughter, Faye Uttinger and her husband Virgil, of Deerfield; one grandson, Jacob Uttinger, of Deerfield; one sister, Karol Ritchie and her husband Jim, of Wichita, Kan.; one niece, one nephew, several cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 7, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with pastor Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, in Deerfield. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
