Nurse Goodbody calls the shots for a good cause
"Nurse Goodbody," the vixen of fundraising, usually known as Dr. Bill Turner, wiggled her way through businesses in downtown Nevada on Friday, soliciting. Soliciting donations, that is, for Relay for Life, an annual event benefitting the American Cancer Society. Teams raise funds in a variety of ways -- ranging from cookouts to garage sales to zany events like Nurse Goodbody's canvass of the town -- throughout the year, culminating in an all-night walk that was held Friday night. Cancer survivors gather on the Square for a survivor's walk that kicks off the event, and teams spend the night walking around the Square, in relays, until sunrise -- symbolizing making it through to the dawn.
