Saturday, June 14, 2008

The 2008 Pittsburg Colgate Country Showdown winner Kamber Cain sings on the Square during Nevada's Bushwhacker Days on Friday. Ten performers took the stage, competing for prize money and the chance to move on to the state competition. Local contests are held in more than 450 locations throughout the country. State winners go on to a regional competition, leading up to the national competition with a grand prize of $100,000. After the Showdown, The Outlaw Junkies, 2002 regional finalists in the Colgate Country Showdown, performed later in the evening. For photos of the Outlaw Junkies, see page 5B.
