Hume schools report $16,000 in damage from June storm

Thursday, June 26, 2008

A recent report to the Hume school board revealed that repairs of damages to the property from a June 3 storm could take some time to complete.

The school's shop building was the most heavily affected, with damage to the roof and windows. The phone system, school officials said, was also heavily impacted, with an estimated $11,000 in damage.

The phones have been fixed but the roof and the windows have not been repaired. Nevertheless, the start of school will not be effected. The total damage estimate amounts to more than $16,000, according to Superintendent David Quick.

Meanwhile, the board decided to paint the school's lockers red, and Quick noted that the FDIC was going to donate 15 chairs, five tables, filing cabinets and boxes of school supplies to the school.
