Joseph William Gloodt
Joseph William Gloodt, age 59, of Nevada, died on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at his home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 10, 1948, in Belleville, Ill., to Alvin J. Gloodt and Ruth Ann Akermann Gloodt. Joe grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and attended Paloduro High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army. Joe was with the 101st airborne while in Vietnam and later with the 892 Support Unit while in Desert Storm. During his 23 years of service Joe received numerous medals including the Bronze Service Star and the Purple Heart. Joe has lived in Nevada since his retirement from the service.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Coleman, of Nevada; two stepsons, George Dockery of Springfield, Mo., and Troy Dockery of Nevada; five grandchildrenl; one brother, Walter Gloodt of Nevada; three sisters, Patricia Cox of Greenwood, Mo., Ethel Voight of Nevada, and Mary Smith of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family members "by heart" that he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., on today at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment with Military Rites will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m., on Monday evening at the funeral home.
