James Edward McCormick
James Edward McCormick, 76, Nevada, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following an illness of several weeks. He was born July 5, 1932, in Bassel, Kan., to Melvin McCormick and Leta Koots McCormick. He was married Nov. 2, 1962, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Iva Marie Anderson and she survives of the home.
Mr. McCormick was born and raised in Kansas and graduated from Kingman High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service, he made his living as a commercial airline pilot with Hawaiian Airlines. He moved to this area in 1975 following his retirement and spent the remainder of his life here. He loved raising and baling alfalfa hay. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Nevada.
In addition to his wife Iva, survivors include one brother, Dr. Eugene McCormick, Wellington, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
