Dana Alan Bowerman
Dana Alan Bowerman, age 42, of Fort Scott, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 7, 1965 in Springdale, Arkansas the son of Tom Bowerman and Edith Keehler Bowerman. He lived in Rogers, Ark., until he was seventeen then moving to Fort Scott. Dana worked for Peerless Products and Dayco Manufacturing before his illness of multiple sclerosis forced his retirement. He married Brenda Key on Feb. 9, 1985. They later divorced. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church. His CB friends know him as "dawg". He loved playing and watching baseball. Dana owned and operated a slot car racing track in downtown for a period.
Survivors include his father and mother, Tom and Edith Bowerman, Fort Scott; two daughters, Dana Lachel Bowerman, Fort Scott and Abigail Raelynn Clark, Independence. Also surviving is a brother, Wesley Bowerman, Fort Scott and a sister, Rebecca Louise Bowerman and fiancé Mathew Gavin, Fort Scott; two aunts, three uncles, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; three aunts and two uncles.
Elder John Atkins and Pastor Bill Norman will conduct funeral services as 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to a Dana Bowerman Memorial Fund and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
