Fort Scott's Public Safety Director resigns
The city of Fort Scott issued a statement on Friday to announce that Public Safety Director Jeff Davis will become the new Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Topeka. Davis plans to assume his new job duties sometime after Oct. 1, the statement said.
Davis came to Fort Scott in January 1996 as fire chief and was later promoted to the position of Public Safety Director overseeing both the police and fire departments in December 2005.
A statement released by the city said that Davis will be missed and the city wishes him the very best in his new job endeavors. The city appreciates his many years of service to the city of Fort Scott, and the expertise, professionalism and dedication he has shown.
City officials plan to begin a search to replace Davis in the near future, the statement said.
