Nevada tennis shuts out Mount Vernon

The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team competed in Mount Vernon, Mo., Monday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers took their first shutout win of the year as they knocked off Mount Vernon 9-0. Whitley Del Rosario, Leah Creasy and Cheyenne Whitson all picked up individual shutouts, while two of the three doubles teams repeated the same feat as Del Rosario and Katlyn Short took a win over Erin Rust and Kristen Roach in their match by a score of 8-0 and the team of Whitson and Daven Smith followed suit with an 8-0 victory of their own over the team of Jacey Farmer and Julia Wendler.

With her win, Del Rosario remains undefeated in singles play and remains on pace to reach her milestone goal of 100 wins.

Ashley McKinley took a near shutout victory as she won her singles match by a final score of 8-1. Short and Smith took individual wins in the match as well by a final score of 8-3 and 8-1, respectively.

The doubles team of McKinley and Creasy had a strong showing as well, taking the win in their match 8-3 over the team of Nikki Norgard and Alyssa Delmorray. The Lady Tigers' junior varsity doubles teams had similar success as they were able to pick up wins in all three of their matches, picking up one shutout in the process.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to be in competition again as they travel to Carthage on Thursday afternoon and their next home match is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
