Lady Tiger volleyball falls to Ash Grove
The Nevada Lady Tigers volleyball team suffered a close loss at Ash Grove Tuesday night.
In set one, Taylor Means opened for the Lady Tigers by serving five consecutive points, but Ash Grove came back to take the lead near the end and went on to take the set 25-23. "We got off to a great start," head coach Becky Lowery said. "Then we let them come back and stay real close the rest of the game until they went ahead at the end."
In the second set, Nevada went down 10-6 until Means went back to serve and the Lady Tigers went on a 5-0 run to take the lead 11-10. Ash Grove quickly got the momentum back and was able to retake the lead 17-12 on their way to a 25-22 win.
"Ash Grove played a great game," Lowery said. "They played their best and we were not at our best."
Mariah Mock had a team-high eight kills in the match, followed closely by Brooke Silvola with seven while Jessica Harper led the Lady Tigers with 19 digs and Means served eight points. Kori Lowery recorded 13 assists in the match to lead the team and Emily Moore added 15 digs while Heidi Wilson aided the offensive effort, notching two kills.
The freshman and JV teams had a bit more success on the night. The freshmen split their two sets 25-17, 15-17 while the JV were able to pull off the victory 25-14, 25-20.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to be in action again tonight at home as they host the McDonald County Lady Mustangs at 5 p.m.
