Cottey Comets fall in tough road match
The Cottey College Comets volleyball team suffered a tough loss at the hands of Kansas City, Kan. Community College on Friday.
In set one, the Comets were up near the beginning and even near the end, but "lost the momentum in between and on the last couple of points," head coach Marla Foreman said, and eventually lost the set 24-26. Set two went in similar fashion and the Comets fell 17-25.
In the third set, the Comets went out with confidence and worked hard throughout the set, but eventually went down by a final third set score of 22-25. Kaley Rogers led the Comets with three aces in the game while Jesse Jargowsky added two and Lauren Jenkins and Lindsey Webb each added one.
Jargowsky tallied 16 assists in the match and Jenkins had a team-high 15 kills while Anna Cruse and Janelle Crowell led with 4 blocks each and Jargowsky notched a team-leading 14 digs.
The Comets are scheduled to be in competition again on Friday, Oct. 17, as they travel to Parsons, Kan., to face Labette County Community College and the Region XVI tournament that was scheduled to end the season on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 has been rescheduled for one week later on Nov. 7 and 8.
