Late Models roar into Nevada Speedway

The MLRA Late Models traveled to Nevada Speedway on Oct. 4, and we were rewarded with some excellent racing. This was their season championship races so everyone gave their all to gain some points. We even had one car get involved in an accident, go airborn and then burst into flames -- which were quickly extinquished by our track officials. John Allen of Omaha, Neb., captured the feature win and while he was in victory lane receiving the track trophy, he was awarded the MLRA Season Championship trophy.
Nevada's Brantlee Gotschall was also called to victory lane where he received the MLRA rookie of the year award. This was our final race of the season and we want to thank all the fans, drivers, pit crews, racers' families, sponsors and supporters for a great year. Next year we hope to see each and everyone of you again at the biggest little racetrack in the country.
The MLRA B feature started with a bang as Jared Addington went bouncing over a tire, collecting Zackery Simmons and several other cars. Corey Zellner led the field back to the green flag and left the field behind as he claimed the win and moved to the back of the A feature.
Jason Bodenhamer claimed the lead at the start of the feature.
A yellow flew as Rusty Skaggs coasted to a stop on the top of the track. This closed the field behind Bodenhamer for the restart.
The MLRA restarts are exciting because the leader is in front and all the other cars are double-wide behind him. A yellow flag flew as Donnie Timmerman, Brett Wood and Robert Coffman got together.
The next yellow flew as Jordan Holloway lost a wheel, which bounced off the track. Once again, Bodenhamer was in the lead for the restart.
John Anderson raced up to challenge Bodenhamer before another yellow flew as Steve Johnson, Bill Koons and P.J. Haskins all ended up crashed together. Anderson raced up, went around them and collected the lead and never looked back as he claimed the win and the championship.
The Modified feature started with Jack Simmons gaining the lead. A yellow flew as Colson Kirk and Cody Elnicki got together, resulting in Jim Wooton stopping to avoid hitting them. Simmons was in the lead on the restart. A red flew as Travis Dobbs spun, collecting Wooton, Scott Chism. Craig Wood -- in second place at the time of the wreck -- got some damage but was able to keep moving so he didn't lose his position.
Simmons maintained the lead and collected his fourth win of the season.
The Factory Stock feature started with Tiny Joles in the lead with Billy Shadden and Shawn Hendren right on his bumper. Joles getting a tap, Shadden got sideways causing Mike Robinson to go sideways and he was collected by Devin Wehmeyer.
The yellow flag flew and an original lineup restart was called. On this start, Hendren collected the lead. Another yellow flew as Shadden ended up in the infield, dragging a bumper.
This closed the field behind Hendren for the restart, but he then got sideways and got tapped by Mark Godsey and they both got into the wall, resulting in the yellow flag flying once again. Mike Robinson was in the lead on the restart and collected the win, his first of the season.
