Famiily loses home in weekend fire

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

A Dederick couple, Jason and Marsha Gerster, and their two daughters lost their home at the intersection of highways 54 and K in a fire Saturday morning. The family was not at home when the fire was discovered at approximately 7:30 a.m. Walker volunteer firefighters, El Dorado Springs firefighters and the Vernon County Ambulance District responded.

A state fire marshal investigator is expected to help determine the cause of the fire.

Carolyn Jones, mother of Marsha, said that a fund had been established at the First National Bank of Nevada for monetary donations and that donations of furniture and clothes would be welcomed as well.

"They lost everything," Jones said. "They lost all their furniture and toys and everything."

For those wishing to donate money the Jason and Marsha Gerster fund at First National Bank is accepting donations and for more information Carolyn Jones can be reached at (417) 876-2393 and Marsha Gerster can be reached at (417) 684-2152.
