Cottey Comets win big in road game
The Cottey College Comets added another win to their season record as they took on Baptist Bible College in another road game Tuesday night.
Nine out of the 10 players on the Comets' roster got in on the scoring in the game, led by Alex Noble and Amanda Sanders with 16 points each. Jessica Roberts and Brittany Smith were both able to crack into double digits on the night as well, finishing out the contest with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Cottey shot 44 percent from the field in the game and a fairly strong 70 percent from the free-throw line. The Comets did well from beyond the arc as well, sinking two of six attempts in the game -- both by Roberts.
Kindall Huett led the rebounding effort with six, while Diamond Hurst once again found herself on top of the board in assists, finishing out the night with six. The assist-turnover ratio in the game was very favorable for the Comets as they turned the ball over just 11 times, but were able to put up 24 assists.
The seven blocked shots that Cottey was able to come up with in the game gave the Comets an even stronger advantage and eventually helped to catapult them to a 71-51 win. With that victory, Cottey's record moves to 4-2 on the season, with their next contest scheduled for this evening at 5:30 p.m., as they travel to Tulsa, Okla., for a rematch against Rhema Bible College.
