Weather postpones area sporting events
Winter weather has driven its way through Vernon County in full force.
Due to the inclement weather, Nevada High School canceled classes and also elected to postpone all sporting events that were scheduled for Tuesday.
The boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams were scheduled to square off against Girard in another road contest, but those games were moved to Monday, Dec. 22.
Among other events that were canceled on the night was the Nevada Tiger wrestling team's trip to Webb City that will be rescheduled at a later time. The freshman boys' basketball team was set to play Neosho Tuesday night as well and that game was postponed to a later date that has yet to be announced.
Other area schools were affected by the weather as well, forcing cancellation of classes and also forcing the Sheldon/Bronaugh basketball game to be postponed to a date that will be announced later. All Rich Hill High School activities, including their basketball game at Hume, were canceled for the night as well.
No makeup dates for the Sheldon/Bronaugh or Rich Hill/Hume games have been announced, but those dates will be reported as soon as they become available.
