Ruth Norine Phillips
Ruth Norine Phillips, 92, daughter of Robert Preston and Ruth Elnora Hill Moberly, was born Sept. 24, 1916, and passed away Jan. 9, 2009, at Community Springs Nursing Home, in El Dorado Springs. On Nov. 10, 1935, she was united in marriage to Frank Phillips, in Nevada. She was a homemaker and spent most of her life in Vernon County until their retirement in 1976, when they moved to El Dorado Springs.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of the First Baptist Church, in El Dorado Springs, a member of Naomi Sunday School class and a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 148.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1966, and a sister.
Survivors include: one son, James Phillips and wife Kay, of Nevada; two daughters, Kay Fogler and husband Merton, of El Dorado Springs, and Wilma Beason and husband Calvin, of Lamar; seven grandchildren, Brent Phillips, of Springfield, Mo., Steven Beason, of Lee's Summit, Mo., Donald Beason Sr., of Carl Junction, Rhonda Bridges, of Collinsville, Okla., and Deana Cornell, of Springfield. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ruth Norine Phillips were held on Monday Jan. 12, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, in El Dorado Springs, with a visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. The Rev. Benny Gard officiated the service with Rusty Carver and Rita Farris providing music. Interment followed in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Dale Stark, Gene Story, Jay Farris, Dub Steincross, Paul Palmer, and Harold Mattingly.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norine Phillips Memorial Fund in care of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home for the First Baptist Church.
