Election begins Jan. 20 for local extension council members

The Vernon County University Extension Council is urging the citizens of Vernon County to participate in the election of council members. The University Extension Council is responsible for helping to secure funds, hire staff and to give guidance in the extension programs in Vernon County. Below is the list of candidates for each district.

Northern District:

Shirley Charles - Walker

Bob Cox - Nevada

Kyle Forkner - Richards

Jack Winter - Richards

Southern District

Jason Comstock - Nevada

Jim Dissler - Nevada

Bill Hedges -- Nevada

Rosemary Noel -- Bronaugh

Jay Sloniker - Milo

Any registered voter wanting to participate in the election of council members may vote at the following places: University Extension Center; Producers at Bronaugh and Walker; Chigger's at Sheldon; FISCA Station on U.S. 54 Highway at the Kansas state line; Emery's at Deerfield; Farmer's State Bank in Schell City; Vernon County Farm Bureau; Farm Service Agency; Daylight Donuts and the Osage Prairie YMCA.

The election will be held Jan. 20 through Feb. 3, 2009.
