Wine Fest to make an encore appearance in Nevada
The Nevada Rotary Club, Nevada, Mo., will present an International Wine Fest to be held at the Nevada Country Club on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. The event will be presented by an expert vintner, Andrea Ebert, of the Schloss Saarstein Vineyards, overlooking the Saar River in Germany. Proceeds will be donated to the International Youth Exchange to fund a visiting or outbound youth for the Nevada Rotary Club.
Andrea and her husband Christian, a Rotarian, are world-renowned winemakers. They grew up surrounded by the wine industry in Germany and have run the family estate with great enthusiasm since 1994. It is one of the leading estates in the area, producing the highest quality wines from the Saar region.
While Andrea's roots and vines are in Germany, she spent what she calls "one of the best times of my life" in Nevada. She was a Rotary exchange student who traveled to Nevada to live with the Jim and Rama Adams family and the Jim and Shirley Guthrie family. Andrea loved the best in small town American life; conversations on the porch, snoozing in the hammock and riding around in a golf cart with friends. "I have many happy, warm memories of Nevada," she said. She is excited about seeing old friends and presenting a great evening for all who attend the Wine Fest.
Each guest will be served elegant German cuisine and fine wines with each course from a select German vintner. There will be live music, a cash bar available, and Andrea will give a short presentation about each wine served.
Ticket purchases must be made by Feb. 20 to permit wine delivery from Germany.
Susan McBeth is in charge of ticket sales.
"This will be a really fun evening for a group of friends to share", McBeth said. But hurry, because seating is limited due to the space available,"
