Florence Mary Lightner

Florence Mary Lightner, 87, Nevada, MO, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Nevada, to James Franklin Carroll and Florence Daily Carroll. She married Eldon Lightner in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1991.

Florence grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada Schools. She was a lifelong resident of Nevada. Florence was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing and being a grandmother. She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Lightner and his wife Beth, Nevada, and J.D. Lightner and his wife Connie, Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren, David Lightner and his wife Jennifer, Nevada, Christopher Lightner and his wife Christine, Florissant, Mo., Joe Lightner and his wife Rebekah, Haslet, Texas, Matt Lightner and his wife Ashley, Bella Vista, Ark., Russ Lightner and his wife Ashley, Keller, Texas, and Lisa Lightner, Rogers, Ark.; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Bobbett, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Eldon, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Joe Lightner officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
