Middle school basketball splits Carthage
The Nevada Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys' basketball teams competed against Carthage Monday night with mixed results.
For the seventh graders, Nevada showed a strong performance in a very close B game, taking the win by a final score of 27-22. Kalen Bradley led the offensive effort for the Tigers with 17 points on the night -- 13 of which came in the fourth quarter alone.
With that win, the B team finishes out their season with a record of 5-2.
In the A game, Nevada showed a dominant performance, taking the victory by a final score of 44-26. Alex Payne had a team-high 19 points in that contest.
With that win, the A team raised their undefeated record to 7-0 and were set to be in action again Tuesday night at Seneca.
The eighth graders didn't have nearly as much luck on the night as they lost the B game by a final score of 42-5. In the A game, Nevada played well, but still came up on the short end of a 53-30 final score.
Morgan Hold led the effort in the A game for the Tigers with 13 points and the A teamers were set to be in action again on Tuesday night in Seneca.
