Kourtney Rae Masters
Kourtney Rae Masters, 18, Lamar, Mo., passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 26, 1991, in Nevada, to Robert Wesely Masters and Helen Christine Speagle Masters and they survive of the home.
Kourtney was a senior at Lamar High School and was a member of DECA and the Lamar High School Choir. She had lived in Vernon County and attended school from the fourth to the eighth grade in Sheldon, Mo. She had lived in Barton County for the past five years.
In addition to her parents, survivors include, two sisters, Heather Masters, San Bruno, Calif., and Nichole Masters, of the home: grandparents, Rick and Nancy Stafford, Lamar, Mo., and Mabel Speagle, Olney, Ill.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ernest Speagle, in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 2, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 8 p.m.
Contributions may be made in her memory to either the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Children's Mercy Hospital in care of the funeral home.
