Nevada Tiger baseball falls at Carthage

Saturday, April 4, 2009

The Nevada Tigers varsity baseball team suffered their second loss in as many games as they traveled to Carthage Thursday afternoon.

Austin Baldwin and Taylor Scotten each went 2-for-3 in the contest, combining for three doubles. Ross Wolfe got the start on the mound and gave up just one run in his four innings of work.

Colby Shepherd took over in relief for the final two innings and the Tigers of Carthage touched him for four more runs on their way to a 5-3 win. With that loss, the Tigers fall to 1-2 on the season and are set to be in action on Saturday as they head to the McDonald County Classic tournament.

Nevada's freshman squad was scheduled to be in action on Friday as well, hosting Carthage, but that game was postponed due to wet weather. In addition to the rescheduling of that contest, field conflicts forced the postponement of an April 13 game at Parsons, Kan.

That game will now be played at 4:30 p.m., April 14, and is still set to be a varsity only doubleheader.
