PSU hires new president

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Today, the Kansas Board of Regents announced that Steven A. Scott will be Pittsburg State University's new president. The board voted to approve Scott's appointment then officially introduced the new president during a special meeting at the Board of Regents' office. Scott will begin his presidency on July 1.

"The board is truly excited about the energetic, results-oriented, and high-quality leadership that Dr. Scott will bring to the Presidency of Pittsburg State University," said Board of Regents Chairwoman Donna Shank. "He emerged from an exceptionally strong field of candidates drawn from a national pool. His outstanding record of achievement and leadership combine with his crystal clear sense of the current challenges and possibilities in the world of higher education to make him ideally-suited to provide visionary leadership that will move an outstanding university to even greater levels of achievement and distinction."

Scott is currently the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at PSU, and he is a former Dean of PSU's College of Education. His application letter and resume can be found on the PSU Presidential Search page on the board's Web site at www.kansasregents.org/psusearch.html.

Scott will be formally introduced to the PSU campus and the Pittsburg community within the following week. Details regarding that even will be released soon, and the campus and community will be invited and are encouraged to attend.

"This is an exciting time at Pittsburg State, and I'm confident that Dr. Scott's leadership abilities will serve the university, the Pittsburg community, and the sate of Kansas well for many years to come," said Shank.
