Family, friends honor life of youth lost in fire

Dozens of family members, friends and classmates gathered Wednesday at the Moore Cemetery to celebrate what would have been the 12th birthday of Amanda Gail Shadden. Amanda and her younger sister Coleen died in a house fire in December 2008. The Nevada Middle School sixth grade band played "Happy Birthday" and the crowd released pink and green balloons in memory of the girls. All those present were invited to attend a memorial celebration at the community center afterward. --Rusty Murry/Daily Mail
