Award-winning quilt to be given away at Bushwhacker Days
Included in the Bushwhacker Days activities will be the Bushwhacker Quilt Guild annual Quilt Show. It will be held on Saturday, June 13, at the City/County Community Center on north Ash Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a boutique with craft, quilt, and baked items for sale. The proceeds from the boutique sales are donated to the Moore Few Nursing Home residents for their activities.
A quilt designed by Ann Jones, embroidered by guild members, and custom quilted by Ann Jones will be displayed and given away at the conclusion of the quilt show. This quilt won a First Place ribbon at the Pittsburg Quilt Show. The quilt is currently on display at the Nine Patch Quilt Shop on east Walnut Street. Tickets for the quilt may be obtained from members of the Guild or at the Quilt Shop.
There will be a Silent Auction conducted throughout the day. These items have been made and donated by skilled quilters of the guild.
An addition to this year's show will be the "Bed Turning" -- this event will be presented at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, and 2:30 -- Selected quilts will be displayed on a bed.
Each quilt will be presented and the "quilt story will be told" -- the bed turning is a great opportunity to learn about interesting quilts from the past as well as quilts that have been made recently.
Individuals in the community are invited and encouraged to display their quilts. The quilts may be brought to the Community Center on Friday, June 12 between 5 pm and 7 pm, or on Saturday, June 13 between 7 am and 9 am. Quilts must be picked up at 4 pm at the conclusion of the show.
Youths who have made quilts are also invited to display their quilts in a special section.
