The Nevada Public Library's Summer Reading Program, Be Creative at Your Library, ended June 24 with The Imagination Celebration. In all, 180 children bore the heat and construction to gather at the Community Center to see the grand finale, win prizes and have ice cream. This summer, Martha Bledsoe, children's librarian led a group of 20 volunteers through nine different workshops in which children learned about Nevada history, graphic arts, writing and illustrating books, writing music, dance, and doing their own newspaper, cooking, and art. All the children got an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity yesterday for the whole group.

"I think this is the best summer reading program yet," Susan McBeth, library director said. "Martha did such an excellent job getting the community volunteers involved. The library staff worked extra hard to make everything run smoothly, the kids loved it; a great summer!"

Each child who reached his or her goal was eligible for a drawing for numerous prizes. The grand prize was a crisp, $100 bill, donated by 3M.

Winners of a host of prizes distributed at the close of the Nevada Public Library's Summer Reading Program display their prizes, during an event marking the occasion held at the City/County Community Center June 24.
