Two more license renewal workshops scheduled in Nevada

Thursday, August 20, 2009

The Missouri Department of Revenue will be sponsoring two additional license plate renewal workshops in Nevada. These sessions are designed to help people who have been inconvenienced by the July 30 closing of the Nevada License Office. The office is expected to reopen on Sept. 1, at 429 E. Walnut, Nevada, to be managed by Alternative Opportunities.

The workshops to assist people in renewing their license plates will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, and Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Nevada Chamber of Commerce, 225 W. Austin. Interested citizens can either come to learn how to renew their license plates online or have the service performed for them.

If people want to have their license plates renewed at the workshop, they must bring the documents that would be needed as if they were renewing their plates at the license office. Such documentation includes a property tax receipt for the vehicle, proof of auto insurance and a recent safety inspection (if necessary). An acceptable form of payment such as a credit card, debit card or check (but not cash) will also be needed.

Personalized license plates (such as college, military, civic club, etc.) can't be renewed at these workshops. Other license office services, such as applying for or renewing driver licenses, also can't be conducted at the workshops. Area citizens can go to nearby license offices in Lamar, Stockton, Osceola and Butler for services not conducted at the workshops.
