Sharon L. Coombs

Sharon L. Coombs, age 61, resident of Arcadia, Kan., died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, following a cancer illness. She was born Nov. 9, 1947, in Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of LaVeen and Mary Maple. She married Gary Coombs on Dec. 22, 1998, in Fort Scott. Sharon was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed canning and various crafts. In addition to gardening, she also raised goats and chickens.

Sharon is survived by her husband Gary of the home; stepfather, Robert Colborn, LaHarpe, Kan.; son David Auxier, Kissimmee, Fla.; step-son Marc Coombs and wife Emily, Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Annette Butler and husband Shaun, Woonsocket, R.I., and Lisa Watkins and husband William, Garland, Kan.; stepdaughter Bridget Coombs, Fort Scott; two stepbrothers, Bobby Wayne Colborn, LaHarpe, Kan., and Roger Colborn, Weir, Kan.; and sister, Annette (Toni) Antonacci, Olathe, Kan. She was preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Haisten, as well as her parents.

Pastor Chris Bowman will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Scott. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
