CARTHAGE, Mo. -- The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team competed in their fourth dual match of the year as they traveled to Carthage High School Thursday afternoon.

Carthage showed a very strong performance in the match as they took six of the nine matches that were played. Katlyn Short and Katie Brauer each brought home victories for Nevada as they defeated Adrianna Peoples and Abby Bayless in the No. 3 and No. 6 singles matches, respectively.

Baylee Blagg got Carthage started in the No. 1 singles match as she faced Leah Creasy, earning an 8-4 victory. Veronica Sprenkle followed with a similar performance as she took down Daven Smith by a final score of 8-4.

In the No. 4 singles match, Caitlin Wagner was no match for Phylicia Lewis as she fell by a final score of 8-2. Madeline Marsden had a bit more trouble, but still ultimately made it past Nevada's Ashley McKinley 8-4 to take the No. 5 singles match.

In doubles competition, Smith and Short defeated Blagg and Lewis by a score of 8-3, while Wagner and McKinley dispatched Bayless and Marsden 8-1.

Nevada's JV had much better luck on the day as they took two of the three singles matches. No JV doubles were played.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to be in action again on Friday as they get set to see their first competition at home this season, hosting Mount Vernon High School.
