Nevada golfers win at Pleasant Hill
PLEASANT HILL, Mo. -- The Nevada Lady Tigers golf team traveled to Country Creek Golf Club Thursday and brought home another very strong performance.
Of the three teams that participated in the match, the Lady Tigers took advantage of Emmaly Ellis and Mariah Jones bringing home th top two individual scores as they finished with the overall team best score of 197. The Lady Tigers brought home three of the top five individual scores of the day and four of the top 10 on their way to edging Pleasant Hill by six strokes.
Ellis finished the day with a final score of 45, three strokes ahead of Jones' 48 that tied her for second with Pleasant Hill's Caitlyn Campos and Bailey Gates. Melea Galimberto tied for fifth with Pleasant Hill's Victoria Taylor at 51, while Morgan Turner took seventh with a 55.
Jessica Mosbrucker came home 13th with a final score of 60, just one stroke ahead of Bailey Hutchison while Ashley Shumaker and Myra Ornelas rounded out the order for the Lady Tigers, tying for 16th and 18th, respectively.
That performance added yet another feather in the caps of one of the top teams that head coach Brian Leonard has seen at Nevada High School. The Lady Tigers will hope to continue their strong run as they head to Briarbrook Country Club in Carl Junction, Mo., on Monday to take on Carl Junction, Seneca and Joplin.
