Richard Dean Wallace
Richard Dean Wallace, 80 of Brazil, Ind., formerly of Nevada, died Sept. 28, 2009, at 12:25 p.m., at his residence. He was born Jan. 20, 1929, in Mosby, Mo., the son of Rial H. Wallace and Marjorie Riley Wallace. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He learned the trade of carpenter and worked as a self-employed carpenter all his working years.
In 2000 he and his wife Virginia Long Wallace moved to Brazil to be closer to her family. They were members of the Trinity Baptist Church in Brazil. In the past Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Kenneth Wallace and one son, Jimmy Wagner Wallace.
Survivors include his, wife Virginia Wallace, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1979; one daughter, Cathy Jean Stonebreaker and husband William of Sheldon, Mo.; one brother, Gaylord Wallace and wife Donna; four sisters Dorothy Kenimer, Betty Grace Willhite, Glenda Sue Thomas, and Glora Faye Estes, all of the state of Missouri; four step-children, Julia Reed of Brazil, Jo Hannah Wallace and husband Bill of the state of Oklahoma, Steve Myers and wife Emily of Stafford, Va., and Frank Myers of Lafayette, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
At his request cremation is to take place with no services. His ashes will be buried at a later date in Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vista Care Hospice or to the Trinity Baptist Church, 1005 N. Washington, Brazil, IN 47834.
