LAMAR, Mo. -- The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team added another strong road victory to their record Monday as they defeated Lamar, 6-3 in their second meeting of the season.

Nevada showed a very strong performance in Monday's match as they took six of the nine matches that were played. Haley Nagel, Ali Bartlett and Kailey Roland each brought home victories for Lamar as they defeated Leah Creasy, Katlyn Short and Caitlin Wagner in the No. 2, 3 and 4 singles matches, respectively.

Daven Smith got Carthage started in the No. 1 singles match as she faced Kristen Clements, earning a slim 9-7 victory. Ashley McKinley followed with a strong performance as she took down Kourtney Walker by a final score of 8-3.

In the No. 6 singles match, Katie Brauer showed a strong performance of her own, picking up Nevada's third win of the day by a final score of 8-3 over Taylor Clements. In doubles competition, the Lady Tigers earned slim victories in all three matches, winning each of them by a final score of 9-7.

Two JV doubles matches were played on the day and neither team was really able to gain much of an advantage in JV competition, ultimately leading to a split. No JV singles matches were played.

That match came on the heels of a strong finish for the Lady Tigers in the Thomas Jefferson Invitational in which they took fifth overall. Smith and Short placed fourth in the No. 1 doubles bracket while McKinley and Brauer took third in No. 2 doubles.

Creasy and Ashley Magsam both showed strong performances in singles, taking sixth in the No. 1 and 2 brackets, respectively.

The Lady Tigers were scheduled to be in action again Tuesday, concluding the regular season with another road match at Harrisonville High School.
