Take It Outdoors Week gets kids moving

Thursday, October 22, 2009
Students at Nevada Head Start participate in Take It Outdoors Week (an effort to encourage children to engage in more physical activities for fun), Wednesday, with a Spider Sweep. The students take turns sweeping plastic spiders down a row with a broom to see who can sweep the fastest. Monday the children played Snake Tag, a game that adds a catch to the age-old game, as a student is tagged they join the children already tagged to make a snake. Tuesday the children played In and Out, the goal of which is to kick a ball out of a circle of children who are trying to keep it in. Today, it's Track and Field day with a three-legged race, and egg and spoon race, a 10-yard dash, and broad jump. Names are withheld at the request of Head Start. --Photos by Steve Moyer/Daily Mail
