Nichole Annette Laughlin

Nichole Annette Laughlin, 33, of Rich Hill, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at her home in Rich Hill. She was born Nov. 25, 1975, to Ellis LaVern and Barbara Ann Davis McElwain, in Butler, Mo.

Nichole, one of two children, grew up in Ballard and graduated from Adrian High School in 1994. On Dec. 17, 1994, she was united in marriage to Jonathan Laughlin at the Adrian Methodist Church and to this union five children were born. As a homemaker, Nichole was devoted to her children and home. She also worked at Bates County Memorial Hospital, in Butler, as a nurse's ade and at the Foster Elevator in the office purchasing grain. Niki attended the Fairview Baptist Church as a child and later attended the Hume Methodist Church.

Niki enjoyed eating good food, a cold glass of Coca-Cola and spending time with family and friends. She read romance novels and watched love stories on television. Niki loved her children and was proud of their accomplishments. She looked forward to going to town or any event where she could dress up.

Nichole is survived by her husband, Jon Laughlin, of Rich Hill; four children, Samuel Jonathan, Nathaniel Jeffrey, Catherine Elizabeth, and Serenity Jane Laughlin, all of the home; her parents Vern and Barbara McElwain, of Adrian, Mo.; one brother, Darren LaVern McElwain and wife Angie, of Adrian; parent-in-laws, Bob and JoAnn Laughlin, of Foster, Mo.; and paternal grandmother, Virginia McElwain, of Ballard, Mo. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Isabell Annette Laughlin.

Funeral services were 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, in Butler, with the Rev. Kay Zimmer officiating. Burial will be in Woodfin Cemetery, in Foster, with Fred Bisby officiating. Contributions may be made to Isabelle and Nichole Laughlin Memorial Fund.
