Wilbur Thomas Huls
Wilbur Thomas Huls, 85, of Hume, Mo., passed away Nov. 16, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. He was born on Dec. 31, 1923, in Kirksville, Mo., the son of William Jackman and Martha Oliver (Treffer) Huls.
Wilbur was united in marriage to Florence Ellen Boyd on July 5, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa; to this union two children were born.
He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines, Iowa. He practiced as a physician in Blue Grass, Iowa, for 42 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, past president of the Optimist Club in Davenport, Iowa, lead of the Boy Scout troop, member of the Blue Grass Firsherman Club, and a lifetime member of Amateur Trap Shooting Association. Wilber loved hunting, fishing, and was a great golfer.He retired to the family farm in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Letty and Ursula.
He is survived by his wife Florence (Boyd) Huls, of Hume; daughter Martha Goff, of Independence, Mo.; son Boyd Huls and wife Terrie, of Wheeling W.V.; and three grandsons, Nathan Goff, Dr. Brennan Huls, and Eric Huls.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Heuser Funeral Home, in Rich Hill, with burial in the Underwood Cemetery, in Hume. The family will receive friends today, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Heuser Funeral Home.
