La Dora Mae Mead

La Dora Mae Mead, 69, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Freeman West Health System in Joplin following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 7, 1939, in San Dimas, Calif., to Harvey Robert Sneed and Edna Mae French Sneed. She married Donald P. Mead in 1961 in Roseville, Calif., and he preceded her in death in 1999.

La Dora was reared in Oklahoma. She graduated from Bonita High School in 1958 in LaVerne, Calif. La Dora worked as a bank teller in southern California and Yukon, Idaho, for many years. She came to the Sheldon area in 1991 and has lived in Nevada since 1993. She was currently working at Burger King in Nevada. She had also worked for several home/health agencies in Nevada during the past several years.

Survivors include two children, Donn Ray Mead and Marilyn Kay Stout, both of Nevada, several grandchildren; three brothers, Robert E. Sneed, Nevada, Kenneth L. Sneed and Clifford E. Sneed, both of Sheldon, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held from 1-6 p.m., at the American Legion in Nevada on Saturday, Nov. 21.
