Gift idea: 'Have a rockin' good Christmas,' DNR official says
Want to delight your favorite rock enthusiast this Christmas? If so, consider giving a Missouri Rock and Mineral Set.
After a 15-year hiatus, these popular, educational rock and mineral sets are once again being offered by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Division of Geology and Land Survey.
"Each set contains 20 of Missouri's more common rocks and minerals," said Joe Gillman, state geologist and DNR Geology and Land Survey director.
"All of the rocks and minerals are from Missouri," Gillman added.
Accompanying the set is a 16-page, full-color booklet that describes each rock and mineral and its uses. In addition to this outstanding rock and mineral set, DNR offers other items such as polished Mozarkite -- the official state rock -- books, posters and educational trading cards for purchase online from the Missouri Geology Store at missourigeologystore.com.
Additional information may be found on the division's Web site at dnr.mo.gov/geology.
