Friday, November 20, 2009

The Vernon County Health Department has signed a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to continue providing W.I.C. services in to about 700 clients per month in Vernon County for the federal fiscal year 2010. Under the terms of the contract persons will be served as eligible. Standards of eligibility and participation for W.I.C. are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex.

The W.I.C. program is for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum; children until age five; and infants. The program provides appropriate food packages based on condition and age. Participants must have a nutritional or medical risk factor determined by the W.I.C. staff and meet financial guidelines. A family of four with a weekly income of $785 or less meets the financial guidelines.
