City, county offices to close for holiday

Most city and county offices around Nevada, except for emergency services, will be closed Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday.

All county offices in the Vernon County Courthouse will be closed Friday, Christmas day. The courthouse will be open for business Thursday. City hall will close at 2 p.m., Thursday, and remain closed on Friday. The Nevada license bureau will be closed Friday and Saturday. The Nevada Public Library will be closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Nevada Housing Authority will close at noon Thursday and remain closed Friday.

Fort Scott National Historic Site will be closed Friday, Dec. 25 for Christmas. Visitors may still enjoy the fort grounds during daylight hours, but the buildings and visitor center will not be open that day.

The site will be fully operational throughout the remainder of the holiday season from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The entrance fee is $3 for persons age 16 and over. Children enter free of charge. For further information call (620) 223-0310 or visit the park's Web site at www.nps.gov/fosc.

The Nevada Daily Mail's offices will close at 3 p.m., Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25 as well. There will be no Friday, Dec. 25 edition of the Nevada Daily Mail.
