All Kansas Friday events postponed; Fort Scott basketball rescheduled

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Cold-weather policies forced the postponement of every event that was scheduled on the Kansas side of the state line Thursday and Friday.

Fort Scott High School's wrestling team was to have taken part in a Southeast Kansas League triangular at Pittsburg Thursday night. Iola was also to be there, competing in the second-year program's first official league duals. No make-up date has been announced for the triangular. The Tigers were scheduled to take part in the Bonner Springs (Kan.) Invitational today.

Fort Scott High School's home basketball games against Parsons, scheduled for Friday night, have been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 18. The Tigers were not scheduled to play that week. All levels, freshmen, junior varsity and varsity, will play that night at the normal times. Fort Scott's next outing will be Tuesday night at Iola.

Uniontown's home basketball games against Erie Friday night were postponed. No make-up date has been announced yet. The Eagles were also scheduled to host Southern Coffey County Monday night, but did not play then due to hazardous road conditions. Uniontown has not played since Dec. 18. The Eagles are scheduled to travel to Oswego Tuesday night.

Pleasanton's basketball teams have not played since they were at Uniontown on Dec. 18. They were to have played Tuesday at home against Chetopa, but could not due to the weather. Friday's doubleheader at Rich Hill (Mo.) was postponed and will be held Saturday, Jan. 30. No make-up date has been announced for the Chetopa games. The Blu-Jays will play at Northeast-Arma Tuesday night.

Jayhawk-Linn's home games against Osawatomie were postponed with no make-up date announced. Unlike the other schools, this was to be the Jayhawks' first action of the new year. They last played Dec. 18 at Frontenac. Jayhawk-Linn is scheduled to be at Central Heights Tuesday.

Every basketball doubleheader in the Southeast Kansas League Friday was postponed except for Labette County at Independence. In the Three Rivers League, it appeared that weather policies would force cancellations of doubleheaders between Altoona-Midway and Chetopa and Pittsburg Colgan and St. Paul, although there was no official word as this summary was being prepared. There had been no word on the Marmaton Valley-Crest doubleheader.

In the Pioneer League, all games were postponed. Central Heights and Anderson County will play on Monday instead as will Wellsville and Prairie View.
