CARTHAGE, Mo. -- The Nevada Tigers wrestling team has battled a short roster that has given them substantial struggles in dual competition throughout the entire 2009-'10 season. Thanks to one wrestler being sidelined by injury and two others being in danger of having wrestled too many matches by the time they reach the district tournament, those issues were even further compounded Thursday night for the Tigers as they struggled their way to a 62-8 defeat.

With just six active wrestlers present at the dual, the Tigers gave up a total of 42 points before any matches were ever wrestled and that proved to be far too much for the Tigers to overcome. In the six matches that were wrestled, Carthage gave the Tigers even more trouble as freshman Slade Stiles and senior Scotty Bough were the only wrestlers who were able to pick up victories for Nevada.

"Open's have killed us all year and they definitely took their toll tonight. We had a few kids out of the lineup tonight, which made it even harder to overcome the deficit," Tigers head coach Devin White said. "I think it showed in the rest of the boys in the way they wrestled as well. Not our best outing."

The Tigers will now take a short break to regroup as they look to leave the struggles they saw at Carthage behind before returning home for a triangular against Butler and McDonald County Tuesday.
