John Robert Darrell Morgan
John Robert Darrell Morgan, 72, of Sheldon, left this life to be with Jesus for eternity on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at his home in Sheldon. He was born on Nov. 13, 1937, in Bradleyville, Mo., Taney County, Mo., to John Riley Morgan and Ida Bessie Johnson Morgan.
At the age of five, he moved with his family to Bates County living there for 16 years and living in Vernon County for the remainder of his life. He was a lifelong farmer, along with being a heavy equipment operator. Hauling livestock was his profession; however, his passion was a good looking quarter horse. He was a member of the Southwest Missouri Team Penners Association and a member of the Nevada Eagle's Aerie Lodge No. 3770. What made Bob's day was a call from his kids, eating tacos and team penning on Sunday afternoon.
He leaves behind three sons, Rick Morgan and his wife Alycia, Louisburg, Kan., Hank Morgan and his wife Debbie, Ada, Okla.; one step-son Ronnie Reed and his wife Susie, Sheldon, Mo.; one daughter, Sherry Brittingham, Louisburg, Kan.; grandchildren, Jake Morgan, Steven, Jeremiah, and Michelle Brittingham, Dustin, Jess, Cole Morgan, and Cole Reed; one great-granddaughter, Jayden Brittingham; one brother, Harold Morgan and his wife Freda, Butler, Mo.; three sisters, Delorce Noe, Greeley, Colo., Geneva Hough, Butler, and Jeanetta Cushard and her husband Don, Adrian, Mo.; very special friends Norma Murry, Ed and Sharon Barker and also including many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-8 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
