Freshman, sophomore track teams fare well at Tuesday meet

The Nevada boys' and girls' track teams fared well in the freshman and sophomore track meet on Tuesday -- both coming in first place overall.

In the girls 100 meter hurdles, Caitlin Johnson placed first and Ashley Shumaker came in third. Johnson also snagged the gold in the girl's 300 meter hurdles, with Baily Harbit placing third. Rees Nobel came in second in the girl's 100 meter dash, Marissa Heard trailing in third. Nobel also placed first in the girl's 200 meter dash; Ashley Shumaker came in third, JaLynn Heckadon in fourth, and Darren Masters in sixth. JaLynn Heckadon came in first in the 400 meter dash; Marissa Heard placed third.

In the girl's high jump Ashley Shumaker placed first and Melissa Mosbrucker placed fifth. Mosbrucker placed fourth in the girl's pole vault, Checyl Odinga placed fifth. Bailey Jones placed first in the girl's discus, and second in girl's shot put. The girls 4x100 meter relay team, with team members Marissa Heard, Ashley Shumaker, Rees Noble and Baily Harbit, placed first. The girl's 4-by-200 meter relay team, consisting of JaLynn Heckadon, Caitlin Johnson, Baily Harbit and Rees Nobel, also placed first.

In the boy's 100 meter dash, Dalton Hendren came in first and Brandon Norton in second. Hendren came in first in the 200 meter dash; Kyle Bennette placed second and Tyler Whitworth in sixth. Brandon Norton placed fourth in the boy's 300 meter hurdles. In the boy's 400 meter dash, Alex Bledsoe led the pack coming in first with Kyle Bennett right behind in second. Austin Gerling got the gold in the boy's 800 meter run; Dalton Shunkwiler came in sixth. Cody Cole placed fourth in the boy's 1,600 meter run. In the boy's 3,200 run Alex Bledsoe placed first, Dalton Shunkwiler placed second, and Cody Cole placed third.

Nathan Slichenmyer placed first in the boy's high jump, with Morgan hold following in third, Tyler Whitworth in fifth and Austin Gerling in sixth. In the boy's pole vault, Kyle Bennett placed second and Morgan Hold came in third. Dalton Hendren came in fourth in the boy's triple jump. In the boy's long jump Nathan Slichenmyer came in second, Morgan Hold in third, Brandon Norton in fourth and Alex Bledsoe in sixth. The boy's 4-by-100 meter relay, with members Brandon Norton, Austin Gerling, Tyler Whitworth and Dalton Hendren, placed first. The Nevada boy's 4-by-800 meter relay team -- Austin Gerling, Cody Cole, Alex Bledsoe and Dalton Shunkwiler -- placed first.
