DNR awards $7.6 million loan to El Dorado Springs for wastewater improvements

Thursday, May 6, 2010

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has announced that a loan of $7,646,600 has been provided to El Dorado Springs for improvements to the city's wastewater treatment and collection systems.

The city will use the proceeds for the construction of a new activated sludge wastewater treatment plant and improvements to the southwest pump station.

Funding for the loan comes from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The fund is a joint effort between the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to provide cost effective financing for wastewater treatment and collection.

The interest rate on the loan will be 1.7 percent, which is substantially below current market rates. The project is expected to be completed this spring.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Water Protection Program will administer the loan funds. The department is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support wastewater infrastructure improvement projects, as well as provide a financial savings.
