HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- Humboldt swept a doubleheader from Uniontown at Walter Johnson Field Thursday, winning the opener 2-1 and the nightcap 12-8.
The losses put Uniontown at 5-7 on the season going into the last week of regular-season play.
Jordan Woods' solo home run in the top of the sixth inning of the opener tied the score at 1-1. But the Cubs scored the winning run in the bottom of the inning.
The Eagles had a total of six hits in the opener. Anthony Myers was 2-for-3. He also took the hard-luck loss on the mound as he allowed only eight hits and no walks. He struck out three. His record fell to 4-2.
Uniontown held a 2-0 lead after two innings in the second game. But the Cubs scored four in the third to take the lead. Each team scored once in the fifth and the Eagles scored once again in the top of the sixth to get within 5-3.
Humboldt scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth to go up 12-4. Uniontown scored four in the top of the seventh.
"I made a few decisions that ended up going in Humboldt's favor," Uniontown head coach Chris Woods said. "But I am very happy with the way the boys played. Both games could have been ours if a few things had gone differently."
Uniontown is scheduled to host Chetopa Monday for a Three Rivers League doubleheader at Dawson Field in Bronson. There may also be a make-up doubleheader or two during the week.
