John Marvin Haggard
John Marvin Haggard, 74, Independence, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away on May 9, 2010, at Independence Rehabilitation Center in Independence, following a brief illness. He was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Nevada, to Therlow "T.J." John Haggard and Mary (Melvina) Howard Haggard. He married Judith S. Hatfield on May 1, 1957, in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.
John graduated from Nevada High School in 1955. He moved to Independence in 1967 and worked for 36 years for Panther Products (formerly Liquid Asphalt Co.) in Harrisonville, Mo. He served in the National Guard of Nevada for four years.
Survivors in addition to his wife Judy, include two sons, Lance Haggard and John Haggard, both of Independence; three grandchildren, Larissa Haggard, Independence, Rachel Haggard, New York, N.Y., and John A. Haggard, Independence; one brother, Jerry Haggard and his wife Cyndia, Louisburg, Kan.; one sister, Ginny Landis, Fredonia, Kan., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, May 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
