Talent, vendors, parade entries sought for event
Bushwhacker Days is just around the corner, and the Bushwhacker Days Entertainment Committee is currently scheduling its Wednesday Night "Songfest of Celebration" and Thursday Night "Local Legends-Past, Present, and Future" lineup.
It's the 46th year for the annual celebration, held each year in June. Kicking off Wednesday, June 9, with official opening ceremonies, an ice cream social, a pet show from Vernon County People for Pets, a carnival and more, the evening's topped off by the "Songfest," featuring local performers.
Thursday night, an Annual Bushwhacker Days event that has become a favorite of old and young alike, Local Legends night, will be held this year at 7:05 p.m.. This four-hour showcase of local talent began in 2005 as part of Nevada and Vernon County's Sesquicentennial celebration and has developed into one of the highlights of the Bushwhacker Days Celebration.
Anyone interested in performing either of these nights should contact Dan or Lorrie Divine at (417) 922-3740 during the day or 417-922-3555 in the evening. The deadline for scheduling performances is Friday, May 28.
Workers are busy finalizing the lineup for other events as well, such as booth for vendors and crafters, and of course the ever-popular Bushwhacker Days Parade, slated for 6:05 p.m., Saturday, and themed, "Celebrating America's Musical Roots."
