Ferry, Christensen compete in state golf tourney

Nevada Tiger golfers Joseph Ferry and Alex Christensen were still alive Tuesday in the Missouri Class 3 state tournament on the Island Ridge course at Republic. Westminster Christian's Kevin Bell, the 2008 Class 3 state champion, held Monday's best round with a 70. Ferry was tied for 42nd place with a score of 80 and Christensen started Tuesday tied for 97th, having turned in an 87 Monday. Christensen was scheduled to tee off at 8:36 a.m., Tuesday, and Ferry's tee time was 9:39 a.m.

The two Tigers faced plenty of tough competition, and

Ferry shot an 84 Tuesday for a total of 164, good for a tie for 56th place. Christensen tied for 74th, scoring 81 Tuesday, for a total of 168.

The Westminster Christian champ Kevin Bell held on to the title in a tie with teammate Kevin VanDeKamp. Both turned in a score of 145.

Westminster Christian also took home the team title with a total score of 599.
